Teachers and Early Childhood Educators
Training for teachers can be conducted at schools and early childhood centres to provide staff with professional development in the areas of speech, language or literacy.
Skill Builders Speech Language Therapy offers the following workshops for teachers and early childhood educators:
Speech and Language Development: What to Expect in the First 5 years (suitable for early childhood centres, day care centres and kindergartens)
Meeting the Literacy Challenge: SLTs & Teachers Working Together (suitable for teachers who work with Yr 1-4 students).
Supervision and Hosting CPD
Skill Builders is able to supervise/mentor ‘new graduate’ clinicians with basic clinical skills training in the areas of speech, language and literacy. Specialist training in stuttering therapy is not offered to speech language therapists and clinicians interested in this area of practice are encouraged to contact the Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust (START). Clinical supervision/mentoring is charged at $130 per hour, with group supervision also available for those who want regular supervision but at a shared cost (maximum of two supervisees).
As well as up-skilling new graduate and less experienced clinicians, Skill Builders is committed to offering speech language therapists with professional development training to ensure that practising clinicians continue to update and extend their professional knowledge. Skill Builders will host expert presenters from New Zealand and overseas and will happily arrange training in other areas upon request.
